Salt flat of Bolivia is also known as Salar De Uyuni in Spanish which is the world’s largest salt depositor having span of more than 4’000 square miles. Salt plan has been surrounded by the cactus like mountains which is known as cacti forest which approximately grow 12 meters high every year and they are one thousand years old. In the wetty season of the salar de uyuni when the rain drops on the surface of salar it gives a smooth and shiny look like glass whereas in the dry season its geometric patterns imprint the earth, apparently elongate beyond the skyline which represent another planet in the world.

About 30,000 to 42,000 of year ago the salar de uyuni was completely underwater as a part of  prehistoric lakes but thousand years later these lake separated into tiny lakes and one of them dried up which make the salar de uyuni and another lake but the salar is the largest one. It combines with a lake called Poopo which gives an impact over solar, another large lake called Titicaca of the Altiplano overflow in the wet season which fills up the Poopo lake and it overflows in turn and give the mesmerize landscape look in winter, creates a thin layer of water which gives the stunning reflection of the sky on the earth.

How to get there:

You can be reach there by bus, plane, and train but if you are coming from another country then you have to fly LA PAZ first. Uyuni is the closest location to start your journey to reach in salt flat plan and you can also travel directly from La Paz, Tupiza or Sucre.

Climate:

Salar de uyuni apparently has an average temperature, 21 °C in the month of November and low to 13°C in the month of June. In this area very little rain has been recorded but yearly flooding occurs. If we see the climate according by the day then it’s warm and sunny but the night are little cold, sometimes it reaches to sub-zero after midnight. It’s very necessary in this area to be hydrated all the time and keep the sun glasses on in the day time because it gives a bright and harsh view to your eyes.
